How much does a website cost in Melbourne in 2026?

Konquer Media, Hallam. Updated .

A custom small business website in Melbourne usually costs $3,000 to $5,000 to build, plus a monthly fee for hosting, security and updates. Our own prices are $3,000 (up to 5 pages), $4,000 (up to 10 pages) and $5,000 (up to 15 pages with an AI enquiry assistant), plus $200 a month. Template and subscription sites cost less up front, but you rent them; a custom build is yours.

What the range looks like

Independent surveys are mostly global. GoodFirms' survey of web agencies found a small business website typically lands between US$1,000 and US$7,000, and a 5 to 10 page business site between US$1,000 and US$15,000. Melbourne agencies that publish prices commonly quote a few thousand dollars for a custom small business site; ours are $3,000 to $5,000.

Below that you are usually buying a template with your logo dropped in. Above it you are paying for custom functionality: online ordering, member areas, integrations with booking or job software.

What actually drives the price

  • Page count: every service and suburb page has to be planned, written and built.
  • Who writes the words: copy written for you costs more than pasting in your own, and converts better.
  • Functionality: booking, quote forms with uploads, payments or an AI assistant each add work.
  • Content readiness: photos and details on hand keep the build short; chasing them adds cost.

The monthly fee, and what it should cover

Every site needs hosting, a domain, security updates and backups. Ask what the monthly fee covers and whether you can leave. Ours is $200 a month for hosting, security, backups, updates and small content changes, month to month with 30 days notice.

Build versus subscription

$0 up front subscription sites spread the cost over a monthly fee that never ends, and the site usually stays with the provider if you leave. A custom build costs more on day one, but the domain, the site and every account are in your name.

Questions

Is a $999 website worth it?

It can be, if all you need is a basic online card. Expect a shared template, little or no copywriting, and limited help with search. For a service business that wants calls, budget for a custom build.

Does the price include GST?

Ask every quote this. Our published prices are the prices we quote; the written quote states GST clearly.

What should a quote include?

Page count, who writes the copy, what functionality is included, timeline, the monthly fee and exactly who owns the domain, site and accounts.
